Thunderpants! Who is/ what is Thunderpants? Well, its a kids movie or it’s underwear from Australia or it’s the World’d Greatest 80′s Band!

Answer: World’s Greatest 80s Band as voted on by members of Thunderpants. We are Houston’s top 80s cover band/ 80s tribute band that has been rocking the stage for 7 years+. We play all private parties including: Frat, Weddings, Birthdays, Corporate and Backyards Shin Digs!!! If you have the $, you too can book Thunderpants.

The band is made up of Krazy Kel (top right) on keys/ rhythm guitar and vocals. Krazy Kel has over 20 years on the stage and plays bass in an original band in Dallas Tx. Vanilla Soy Latte (2nd on right) plays lead guitar and sings a hand full of leads. He is the youngest member with 7 years stage experience. Next up is Great Scot! pictured in the middle right, Great Scot comes to Thunderpants all the way from Scotland. His experience is unknown as we can’t understand what he says 99% of the time. Fourth on the right is TBAG. Tbag is the groove man laying down the bass on the 80s making sure asses keep moving. Last, MCDX is the lead singer and one of the original members from 2004. He has over 12 years experience and started Thunderpants after breaking off of the Chixie Dixs from New Orleans La and landing in Houston, TX.

Total, the band has over 40 years of playing live and entertaining people. Come to a show and enjoy the best of the 80s Houston has to offer. The 80s offered many styles in the decade including pop, rock, new wave, hip hop and funk. We blend all styles into a fun packed night sure to make everyone dance and want more PANTS!

PAST HISTORY
Started seven years ago by two Camel employees (MCDX and Billy Jeans) at a sales meeting in New Orleans, LA. The band quickly added T-Bag Johnson on bass and started working on the awesomeness that exists today. With the turnover of two drummers, they landed a rock solid skin beater, J-Balls. With lead guitarist Mad Mark bolting for the “Man”, the band quickly recruited the only guy that has played with every cover band in Houston- Gary$Money. With his shredding skills too powerful for one band to contain, they quickly recruited the young talents of Vanilla Soy Latte.

With the line up solid, the band went on to rock the town, playing every dive bar in Houston. With success on the horizon it was time for a break up (no one handles success well). Two members splinted off to create the short lived but never gigged All Your Brains. While the disco party zombie music seemed like a great idea at the time, the band was quickly shelved and Thunderpants was resurrected in time for the 2nd Annual New Years Eve Bash at Houston’s House of Blues. The show was a flaming success and with success came another break up.

With members splinting off to join other cover bands, MCDX and Great Scott never gave up. They recruited original bassist T-Bag Johnson and Krazy Kell K for Keys. Soy was forced back in w/ a blackmail charge dating backing to an incident in the HOB green room (circa 2009).

With the group playing stronger and better than ever, they continue to rock one party after the other. While most shows are private parties, the band does play occasional publicly around town including the HOB NYE Bash four years running!
